Club Governance
SCYC operates under a democratic governance structure that has evolved over our 100-year history. Our constitution ensures transparent decision-making and member participation in all major club matters.
The club is managed by elected officers who serve two-year terms, supported by specialized committees that handle specific aspects of club operations. This structure ensures expert management while maintaining democratic oversight.
All members have the opportunity to participate in club governance through voting, committee service, and attendance at general meetings where important decisions are made collectively.
Democratic Process
The club operates under a constitution established in 1924 and regularly updated to reflect modern governance standards.
All major decisions are made democratically with input from the membership through Annual General Meetings and special meetings.
Officers are elected every two years by the membership, with nominations open to all eligible members.
The Annual General Meeting is held each spring, with Extraordinary General Meetings called as needed.
