Enhanced Safety Measures for All Members

South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club has invested significantly in upgrading our safety equipment and facilities to ensure the highest standards of safety for all members and visitors.

New Rescue Boats

We have acquired two new state-of-the-art rescue boats:

  • Primary Rescue Boat: 6.5m RIB with twin 90hp engines, capable of 35+ knots
  • Secondary Rescue Boat: 5.2m RIB with single 60hp engine for close-shore operations

Both boats are equipped with the latest navigation and communication equipment, including GPS chartplotters, VHF radios, and emergency beacons.

Updated First Aid Facilities

Our first aid facilities have been completely renovated and restocked with modern medical equipment:

  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Oxygen therapy equipment
  • Spinal immobilization boards
  • Comprehensive trauma and wound care supplies

Training and Certification

All rescue boat operators and safety officers have completed updated training courses, including:

  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 certification
  • First Aid at Sea courses
  • VHF Radio Operator licenses

"Safety is our top priority at SCYC," said Commodore Helen Davies. "These investments ensure we can provide the best possible safety cover for all our sailing activities."

Safety Procedures

We remind all members to familiarize themselves with our updated safety procedures, available in the clubhouse and on our website. Regular safety briefings will be held throughout the sailing season.
